Introduction

The performance of this method is validated in accordance with internationally recognised procedures.

This procedure describes the procedures required to prepare leachates of soils for subsequent analysis for a range of parameters.

Principle

An aliquot of the 'as received' sample is placed into an amber jar and 'diluted' at a water:soil ratio of 10:1. The sample is then agitated for a period of 24 hours. The leachate is then filtered and set aside for analysis.

Performance Characteristics

Substances Determined

Not applicable.

Range of Application

  • Not applicable.

Limit of Detection

  • Not applicable.

Analytical Quality Control

Analytical quality control is maintained by a number of measures:

  • Duplicate preparation dependent upon batch size and analytical duplicate requirements.
